National Collection of Papaver
orientale & the New Super Poppy Collection
We start our Special Lecture Days in the first week of
May 2010.
As the weather differs each year, it’s nearly impossible
to advise you when to plan your visit.
Normally we would say the first 2 weeks in June, but
2007 saw an early and
warm spring & the Poppies started flowering on April
29th instead of late May early June.
I would suggest that after you have made your booking
you contact us by telephone to enquire the optimum time
to visit, we will do our best to ensure that your visit
is well worth while & enable you to see as many poppies
as possible in all their glory.
The afternoon will start with a talk on the National
Collection of Papaver orientale & the New Papaver ‘Super
Poppy hybrids’.
We will be looking at the differences of the growing
habits & flowering forms of the poppies and you will be
able to view at close hand the Poppy Necklace Collection
and the new Emerald beds which is home to over 150
different varieties of Orientale Poppies. This will be
followed by a tour of the gardens and a question time.
Lunch or Afternoon tea can be purchased from the Poppy Barn Café.
